Hey lovely mamas,
It’s Bianca here, and today I want to share some funny and real emotions with you that I experienced during both my pregnancies, and I am sure I am not the only one! If you are reading this you are most probably a mom, pregnant or planning to become a mom in the future - and I am sure you can relate or will find this comforting when you find out you are pregnant too.
Oh wow! So you have taken a test, and it’s positive. Could it be? Is this for real? Am I dreaming? If you have been trying for a baby or it comes as a surprise - there is no doubt you are feeling surreal. Are you really pregnant? Your body looks the same, you probably still feel normal if it’s early too so you can feel confused during this time. You might even feel like you are floating on a cloud trying to figure out if this is your new reality.
Okay, it’s real. You are starting to become used to the fact that you are going to be a mama. You have pregnancy symptoms, you might have had your first baby scan. The proof is there. You start seeing a lot of babies and baby products and you start picturing and imagining how your journey will be.
Baby is growing, your belly is growing, life is slowly starting to change and you have started buying some things and maybe even getting your babies room ready. And then it hits you! Will I be a good mother? Will my baby be healthy? What if…? What do I do with him/her? Your mind starts playing tricks on you, and you somehow feel slightly scared about the unknown. If it’s your second baby you might have thoughts like, “How can I love them both the same?”, “Will they feel left out?”.
You are a ball of emotions. One minute you are feeling like a beautiful goddess with a belly, with the incredible power of creating life. The next minute you want to burst into tears because you cannot reach the chocolate you dropped on the floor after your 10th trip to the bathroom at 10am. It’s best if everyone smiles and hugs you no matter what hehe.
5. The impatience
As you near the end of your pregnancy, for some it is shorter or longer than the usual 38-40 weeks. You might find yourself becoming impatient and frustrated. You have spent nearly 9 months overthinking, building up excitement and preparing to meet your little angel. Now you are tired, you feel uncomfortable, you feel heavy, your clothes are really tight and boring, you start to miss being energetic and you just really want to meet your sweet baby now. You are probably not getting much sleep either, and looking for any small sign that labor is near!
Growing a baby is hard work. Be reminded that you are creating a human, it’s only normal to feel exhausted, scared, emotional and whatever else you are feeling. Be easy on yourself and make sure you are embracing all these moments, and making time for yourself. It’s so important to take care of your own wellbeing before and once becoming a mom - you can read more about why HERE.
