WELCOME TO THE 2ND TRIMESTER

A day most of us wait to finally take a deep breath as we are now in the “safe zone” as they call it. We often hear about this great milestone. The trimester where you are likely to feel the most “beautiful”. You may lose the dreaded nausea and morning sickness. Your belly is finally starting to pop. You have a bit more energy than the first trimester that just passed. And you can now safely share the news with family and friends according to certain studies.

It’s also totally normal if you feel exactly the same as you did a week ago! Every pregnancy is different and we all experience it uniquely - so just embrace where you are now and remember, you are creating life!

The second trimester is the perfect time to get organised and to take good care of yourself! Below are a few ways you can do that:

  1. Attend prenatal checkups: Regular prenatal checkups with your healthcare provider are essential to ensure that both you and your baby are healthy. Your provider may perform ultrasounds, check your blood pressure and weight, and monitor your baby's growth.
  2. Eat a healthy diet: Focus on eating a well-balanced diet that includes plenty of fruits, vegetables, lean protein, and whole grains. It's also important to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
  3. Exercise: Moderate exercise, such as walking or prenatal yoga, can help keep you healthy and improve your mood. Be sure to check with your healthcare provider before starting any new exercise routine.
  4. Get enough rest: Aim for at least 7-9 hours of sleep per night, and take naps if needed. You may also want to try sleeping on your side to promote better blood flow to the placenta and fetus.
  5. Take prenatal vitamins: Prenatal vitamins contain important nutrients like folic acid, iron, and calcium that are important for your baby's development.
  6. Consider childbirth education classes: Classes on childbirth and parenting can help you prepare for the birth of your baby and feel more confident as a new parent.
  7. Start preparing for baby: Use this time to start gathering baby gear and setting up a nursery. You may also want to consider making a birth plan and researching your options for childbirth.
